Visitors and Shabby Chic Rockers

This morning is off to a productive start!  I've fixed a lunch for the hubs, took the dog on a run, 3 loads of laundry, mowed the front and back yard, cleaned up the mower, chatted with my Dad on the phone, solved and E-Bay problem for my sister, and started cleaning on my disaster of a house.  You know your floors are bad when the neighbor baby comes over and leaves with black toes and knees from crawling around.  Yes, it really is that bad.  Yes, it's embarrassing.  And, yes, I will probably regret publicly announcing how disgusting my floors are at the moment.

But, in my defense, I have had a house full.  Justin's parent's, sister, and two nieces have been here visiting us...along with our little 85 lb. indoor puppy.  So needless to say, the floors took a hit.  When you live in Florida, it's pretty much a given that you will have visitors all summer long!  And this summer has been no exception.  We had a great time with his family here though...great food, beach time, shopping, dominoes, hanging out, crab hunting, seashell finding, and much more!  Aren't his nieces adorable?  (I may be a little biased).

Along with all the fun, I've managed to get a little bit of work done.  I've been working on some pieces that got hidden away in my furniture stash.  I finished these a while back (hence the brown grass in the pics), but just now got around to waxing them and getting them to my booths.  The first is a kid's rocker.
And next up, was an adult rocker.  Both rockers got a coat of primer and white paint, followed by some distressing.
They also got a coat of clear wax and now they are ready to go.

Too sweet!! I know some people who are so obsessive about cleanliness that they forget to enjoy the special moments. You have all the time in the world to clean the floors, you can never have too much time with loved ones. Glad you are enjoying your visits!!!

PS- lovin' the rockers of course.

As your mother-in-law I must say your house is VERY clean! You did have lots of traffic in and out this past week, so your floors might be a little dirty. You and our son are great entertainers though and this picture of my granddaughters is very good.
