Bench Back Becomes Table

Howdy Blog-land Friends!  I have some extra energy tonight.  I think it's because I had somewhat of a lazy day.  I didn't have to work today and I didn't have any major plans...can't remember the last time that happened.  I got a few things done around the house, pondered my logo design (so excited about this!!), and a few little projects worked on.  My neighbor and her sweet girls came over for most of the day and entertained me.  We always have a blast together.  The weather was great!  The sunshine was out all day!  It was just a good day!

I'm sharing a project that I (err, my Dad, actually) finished a little while back.

I had picked up this piece a little while back a flea market that I like to hit.  I think it was the back to an old bench.  The frame was wood and the insert was iron.  This booger was heavier than it looked.  I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but for $8 I was drawn to it and knew I would think of something.
Also, a while back at an estate sale I saw these legs (in the back of the picture) for $2 and added them to my "pile" while I continued shopping.  When I came back, a nice gentleman working the sale said that this top went with them and he also added it to my pile.
Then, this handy little fella (my awesome Dad) came to visit and he's handy and he likes to work, so I put him to work! :)  As mentioned in previous posts, he has to earn those home-cooked meals. LOL.
Better shot of the legs (the table legs; not my Dad's legs, that is):
So, since the legs were already set up to work with these handy-dandy-little-leg-holder-things, we just removed them from the original table and screwed them into the corners on the underside of my wood/iron piece.  These were made so that you could put the legs in straight or at an angle.  For this piece, I opted for straight.

Here it is all put together, just waiting to be prettied up.
Hmmm...what should we do to it....ORB, of course.  You know how much I love my oil rubbed bronze.
And the best part?  This spray paint is for plastic, metal, wood, and much more, so no priming or prep work required.  Score!  So I spray painted the legs.
Next up, I waxed the top.
Pretty much done at this point:

I just love the way it turned out and it makes a perfect sofa table or entry way table.  This piece is currently for sale.  Any re-purposing projects you've been working on lately???
Here's the fabulous parties I'm linking up to:

Great imagination and insight!

Brilliant! Thank you for sharing the idea. There is an extra park bench of two hanging around my yard not earning their keep and they just might meet a similar fate!
